Responsibilities

  • Designs, implements, and validates constraint-aware and knowledge-injected machine learning models for disease prediction and healthcare analytics.
  • Develops robust and interpretable models that align with real-world epidemiological patterns.
  • Translates conceptual frameworks into deployable analytical tools that can inform public health decision-making.
  • Applies domain constraints to improve model stability, reliability, and fairness across diverse populations.
  • Curates, pre-processes, and integrates multimodal datasets (e.g., surveillance, vaccination, social media) to support modeling and interpretation efforts.
  • Develops and documents ETL pipelines for integrating data from heterogeneous sources.
  • Conducts quality assurance, feature engineering, and metadata harmonization to ensure the reproducibility and interpretability of AI models.

Other

  • Works closely with interdisciplinary teams across Clemson, MUSC, and partner institutions to support ongoing projects and ensure scientific rigor.
  • Participates in multi-institutional research meetings, contribute to manuscript and grant development, and coordinate joint data and model sharing efforts.
  • Engages in discussions that connect data-driven insights with public health implications and operational relevance.
  • Writes and publishes papers.
  • Assists in preparing manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, contributes to technical documentation, and presents research progress at professional meetings and internal seminars.
