Meta is seeking a Research Engineer to join the Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) team to build world models, learning to understand and make predictions about the physical world, especially from video, and develop efficient algorithms for world model-based planning and control.
Requirements
- Research background in machine learning, artificial intelligence, computational statistics, applied mathematics, or related areas
- 2+ years experience coding software and executing complex experiments
- Experience with Python and PyTorch
- Research experience in one or more of these areas: computer vision, multimodal perception, robotics, self-supervised representation learning, reinforcement learning and control
- Experience developing efficient, scalable distributed systems and/or training pipelines
- Experience with C++, CUDA and model optimization
- Author-Contributed Research Publications in AI conferences like ICML, ICLR, NeurIPS, CVPR, ICCV, CoRL, or similar
Responsibilities
- Leading, collaborating, and executing on research that pushes forward the state of the art in artificial intelligence
- Contributing to experimental design, implementation, evaluation, and reporting results
- Working with and creating large datasets and evaluation benchmarks
- Building optimized software tooling and infrastructure to accelerate research outcomes
- Influence progress of relevant research communities by producing publications
- Open source high quality code and produce reproducible research
- Collaborating with scientists and engineers in a large cross-functional team
Other
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a relevant technical field, and 2+ years of equivalent domain-specific industry experience
- PhD in the field of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- Demonstrated research and software engineering experience via work experience, coding competitions, or widely used contributions in open source repositories (e.g. GitHub)
- Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location
