Microsoft Research is looking to transform the future of artificial intelligence by bridging the gap between cutting-edge general AI and specialized, real-world applications, and increasing the performance and efficiency of cutting-edge inference systems.

Requirements

  • Experience in conducting research in the fields of Computer Architecture and HW design
  • Experience in conducting experiments and writing papers.
  • Programming skills in C/C++ and Python
  • Knowledge of ML/AI/LLM concepts
  • Relevant publications such as ISCA, MICRO, ASPLOS, HPCA, CVPR, ACL, ICML, NeurIPS, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough research on chip architectures for efficient AI serving
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed documentation of simulations, methodologies, and findings.
  • Present results and insights to team members and stakeholders.
  • Innovation and Problem-Solving: in-depth knowledge and understanding across different disciplines, proficient problem formulation and problem-solving skills.
  • developing and implementing cutting-edge technology in artificial intelligence.
  • exploring the ways to increase the performance and efficiency of the cutting-edge inference systems.

Other

  • Currently enrolled in aMaster or Ph.D. program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Research Interns are expected to be physically located in their manager's Microsoft worksite location for the duration of their internship.
  • submit a minimum of two reference letters for this position as well as a cover letter and any relevant work or research samples.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and vibrant research environment.
  • Willingness to embrace knowledge outside your field of research interest.
