Microsoft Research Asia – Vancouver lab is on a mission to transform the future of artificial intelligence by bridging the gap between cutting-edge general AI and the specialized, real-world applications that drive meaningful impact. Research Interns will explore the ways to increase the performance and efficiency of the cutting-edge inference systems.

Requirements

  • Experience in conducting research in the fields of Computer Architecture and HW design
  • Experience in conducting experiments and writing papers.
  • Programming skills in C/C++ and Python.
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning/AI/Large Language Model concepts.
  • Relevant publications such as ISCA, MICRO, ASPLOS, HPCA, CVPR, ACL, ICML, NeurIPS, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough research on chip architectures for efficient AI serving
  • Prepare detailed documentation of simulations, methodologies, and findings.
  • Present results and insights to team members and stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement cutting-edge technology in artificial intelligence.
  • Collaborate with a team of world-class researchers and engineers across MSR labs exploring the ways to increase the performance and efficiency of the cutting-edge inference systems.

Other

  • Currently enrolled in a Master or Ph.D. program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Research Interns are expected to be physically located in their manager’s Microsoft worksite location for the duration of their internship.
  • In addition to the qualifications below, you’ll need to submit a minimum of two reference letters for this position as well as a cover letter and any relevant work or research samples.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and vibrant research environment.
  • Willingness to embrace knowledge outside your field of research interest.
