USC's Keck School of Medicine, Department of Medicine, is seeking a Research Lab Technician II to support its kidney research program by performing a wide range of duties related to animal studies and lab management.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of laboratory equipment and research protocols.
  • Knowledge of computer analysis techniques and ability to provide routine analysis and interpretation of research data.
  • Mouse husbandry procedures including, but not limited to, maintenance of breeding colonies, weaning of litters, mouse identification, collection of tissue, blood, and urine, and maintenance of records in a computer database.
  • Assist in planning, performance, and interpretation of animal studies.
  • Experimental techniques including mouse surgeries, immunofluorescence, Western blotting, genotyping, quantitative PCR, bioinformatics, and advance tissue clearing approaches may also be performed (after training).
  • Ensure animal research regulatory compliance.
  • Administration of IACUC protocols.

  • Administer IACUC protocols.
  • Perform general lab maintenance.
  • Perform ordering and reagent preparation.

  • Associate's degree, Specialized/technical training, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
  • 2 years of experience
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science
  • Preferred Experience: 1 year of work in a basic science lab
  • Preferred Field of Expertise: Kidney and mouse research
