The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) is looking to satisfy its overall operational objectives through the provision of research support services, specifically in the coordination and execution of research protocols and clinical trials.
Requirements
- Active, current license as a registered nurse in the United States, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
- 2+ years of nursing experience in one of the following clinical specialties: cardiology, pulmonary, hematology, hematology/oncology, vascular medicine, and/or sickle cell disease.
- 2+ years of experience in clinical research coordination, supporting phase 1 and phase 2 clinical trials with complex patient populations.
- Skilled in managing the unique needs of very ill patients in a research setting.
- Prior experience at the NIH Clinical Center is highly preferred.
- Clinical Research certification a plus.
Responsibilities
- Work with a diverse clinical research team including physicians, advanced practice providers, patient care coordinators, protocol navigators, and data managers to support the coordination of clinical research studies.
- Coordinate clinical research activities to meet the protocol requirements and manage the research participant’s experience throughout the life cycle of a study.
- Educate and counsel patients participating in research studies, including following up with patients in long-term studies.
- Facilitate patient recruitment and enrollment into ongoing research studies.
- Support compliance with protocol regulatory requirements.
- Manage clinical research data and support data quality assurance.
