Texas A&M University's Biology department is seeking a Research Program Associate I to support Dr. Farhy's lab and play a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the research lab, contributing to a wide range of essential tasks including animal care, reagent preparation, and hands-on assistance with student training.
Requirements
- Experience with rodent models
- Cell culture
- Cryostat and histology
- Knowledge of cell culture techniques
- Knowledge of rodent husbandry and handling
- Cryostat work expertise
- Knowledge of rodent brain tissue dissection
Responsibilities
- Assists in the design, planning, and coordinating of experiments in support of various research projects.
- Selects and applies standard techniques of routine research and keeps detailed records of data.
- Uses computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results.
- Evaluates and summarizes results.
- General lab duties, purchasing, autoclave, animal maintenance.
- Maintaining an accurate laboratory notebook, writing manuscripts, contributing to grant proposal, presenting findings.
- Training new personnel on lab procedures.
Other
- High school graduation or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two years of experience in a research lab or office setting (undergraduate research acceptable)
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Interpersonal and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s in biology or related area (preferred)
