Dow's Post Reactor Extrusion & Processing Research and Development group is seeking an Associate/Research Scientist to focus on compounding & extrusion process development for new processes and product innovation projects, as well as asset-related process improvement projects. The role will drive technology development for mechanical recycling and lead new product/process development in collaboration with other teams.
Requirements
- A minimum of a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is required.
- 3 years of relevant industrial experience.
- 3 years of polymer processing experience.
- Prior experience in compounding and extrusion technology is a plus.
- Prior experience in process simulation is a plus.
- Strong polyolefin and formulation knowledge.
- Strong rheology background.
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements technical solutions through hands-on experimentation/problem-solving for research problems that are well defined within a project area.
- Generates sound research data, interpretation of results, and data handling.
- Consistently applies the Scientific Method in the planning and execution of experimental plans and problem solving.
- Formulate hypotheses and develop experimental plans to test hypotheses.
- Leverage Six Sigma tools and methodology to solve complex problems with projects of regional or global scope.
- Keeps current with developments in relevant area of technology and identifies and implements applications which will benefit Dow.
- Work with legal department to manage IP and secure freedom to practice and patent new technologies.
