HJF is seeking a Research Scientist to support the Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence (TBICoE) at the Naval Medical Center San Diego. The role involves investigating and developing new technologies and protocols related to traumatic brain injury (TBI) research to advance the state of the science and clinical standards for warfighter brain health and readiness.
Requirements
- Must have clinical TBI research experience.
- Knowledge of applicable complex scientific procedures and techniques
- The incumbent must be able to work comfortably with computer software, including Microsoft Office and relevant statistical tools
- Ability to troubleshoot technical procedures.
- Prior experience within the DoD/VA systems of care with neurological disorders and TBI clinical research experience strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Plans, executes, and oversees laboratory research.
- Formulates experimental hypotheses and designs experimental protocols.
- Monitors scientific literature.
- Prepares written reports and manuscripts for submission to scientific journals and prepares patent applications.
- Processes and interprets experimental data.
- Makes scientific observations, maintains detailed workbooks/documentation, and ensures documentation fulfills generally accepted professional/industry standards.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical procedures.
Other
- Doctoral Degree required. Ph.D., MD or MD/PhD or terminal doctorate degree in related scientific discipline preferred. May consider a Master’s level degree with at least 10 years of clinical TBI research experience.
- Must complete CITI/ HIPAA training.
- Minimum Experience: 2-3 years of clinical research experience required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a T3/Secret Clearance, including background check and drug screening.
