Universal Display Corporation is seeking to accelerate the discovery of innovative materials and reaction conditions in organic electronics and materials chemistry through the application of advanced design-of-experiment methodologies and Bayesian optimization techniques.

Requirements

  • PhD in Chemistry, Physics, or a related field (e.g., Chemical Engineering, Materials Science).
  • Demonstrated expertise in Bayesian optimization and statistical experimental design, with hands-on experience applying these methods to chemical or materials research.
  • Familiarity with multiple experimental design and optimization techniques, including classical DoE approaches (such as factorial designs and response surface methodology) and modern machine learning-based methods (such as Gaussian process regression modeling for optimization).
  • Proficiency in Python for scientific programming.
  • Experience with scientific computing and data analysis libraries in Python (e.g., NumPy, pandas, PyTorch, BoTorch, etc.).
  • 2+ years Post-doctoral research experience (or equivalent industry experience).
  • Background in organic electronics, or prior research experience with organic electronic materials (OLEDs, organic semiconductors), is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the charge in designing and implementing state-of-the-art Bayesian optimization algorithms and experimental designs (DoE) to uncover the best chemical reaction conditions and material formulations.
  • Continuously refine and adapt optimization models based on experimental results and feedback, improving the efficiency and success rate of each iterative experimental cycle.
  • Work alongside a dynamic team of chemists, materials scientists, and device engineers to seamlessly integrate Bayesian optimization methods with cutting-edge laboratory workflows and automated instruments.
  • Work closely with synthetic and analytical chemists to interpret experimental data, identify promising reaction conditions and guide further optimization steps.

Other

  • PhD in Chemistry, Physics, or a related field (e.g., Chemical Engineering, Materials Science).
  • 2+ years Post-doctoral research experience (or equivalent industry experience).
  • Competitive base salary and annual bonus program
  • Medical/Prescription Drug coverage, Dental, and Vision for employees and family
  • Annual charitable matching gift
