IonQ is developing the world's most powerful full-stack quantum computer based on trapped-ion technology and is seeking a Research Scientist, Fabrication to design, fabricate, and optimize their quantum interconnect platform, a critical component for scalable, distributed trapped-ion quantum computing systems.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in the fabrication, design, simulation, and optimization of nano-structured devices, including expertise in lithography, dry and wet etching, annealing, chemical vapor deposition, and physical vapor deposition
- Demonstrated experience with simulation tools for nano-structured device design (e.g., Lumerical, COMSOL, Flexcompute, or similar).
- Strong proficiency in data processing, visualization, and organization.
- Familiarity with comprehensive fabrication processes and design constraints for nano-structures.
- 7+ years of dedicated experience in nanophotonics design and characterization.
- 3+ years of industry experience
- Experience working with heterogeneous integration and on-chip components
Responsibilities
- Drive the optimization and sustainment of advanced fabrication recipes for nano-photonic devices, leveraging state-of-the-art e-beam and direct-write lithography techniques across various substrates.
- Establish robust inline metrology monitors and statistical process control for lithography and other critical fabrication processes, ensuring precision and reliability.
- Provide critical insights to our design teams by analyzing and interpreting complex scientific data derived from fabrication processes.
- Work collaboratively within a dynamic, interdisciplinary team, contributing to a shared vision of technological advancement.
