Novartis is seeking a Research Scientist II to support oligonucleotide delivery programs within their Genetics Medicine Unit by executing and supporting in vivo and ex vivo studies.
Requirements
- Experience developing and executing in vivo experiments in rodent models
- Experience developing and optimizing CNS dosing protocols for neuropharmacology studies, including ICV and IT injections
- Expertise in small animal surgical techniques (stereotaxic surgeries, catheterization)
- Knowledge of computer software and Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, GraphPad Prism)
Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and troubleshoot in vivo studies for a variety of Neuroscience programs
- Intracerebroventricular (ICV) and intrathecal (IT) dosing, bleeding and CNS tissue dissection and collection
- Tissue processing to support RNA and protein assays (Western, qPCR, in situ hybridization assays)
- Handle many projects simultaneously and prioritize experiments while producing high quality, reliable and reproducible results
- Data analysis, organization and presentation
- Maintain up to date, organized and accurate study records including the use of an electronic lab notebook
Other
- BA/BS in science-related field
- 2+ research experience, preferably in the field of neuroscience
- Ability to work well in collaborative, fast-paced team environment
- Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills
