Meta Reality Labs is seeking an intern to enhance interactions with augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) devices by exploring and implementing cutting-edge algorithms that utilize sensor streams to track the states of users and/or devices.

Requirements

  • Research skills involving defining problems, exploring solutions, and analyzing and presenting results
  • Proficiency in C++, Matlab, or Python
  • Experience with sensor fusion (e.g. IMUs, depth sensor, CV) and its real-time applications
  • Experience with hand tracking or human body tracking
  • Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at leading workshops or conferences such as NeurIPS, AAAI, CVPR, ICCV, IROS, ICRA, UIST, CHI, or similar

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute cutting-edge research to advance AR/VR interaction technologies in the areas of sensor fusion, calibration, and tracking.
  • Collaborate with other researchers, engineers, and user experience researchers to prototype hardware and software solutions, and run experiments to advance the project.
  • Work with leading academic researchers in the field.
  • The work should result in publishable research that appears in top-tier journals or at leading international conferences.
  • Explore and implement cutting-edge algorithms that utilize sensor streams to track the states of users and/or devices.
  • Work with researchers to help enable their work across the following research disciplines: - Tracking & Sensor Fusion - Glove Sensing & Tracking

Other

  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Robotics, or relevant technical field
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
  • Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment
  • Intent to return to degree program after the completion of the internship/co-op
  • Availability for minimum 16 consecutive week internship
