The Ohio State University's Radiation Oncology department is seeking a Research Senior Technician to support scientific investigation into cancer research within the Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Requirements
- Sets up and operates laboratory equipment
- Performs a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, plasmid construction, cell cultures.
- Sorts and processes tissue and blood samples
- Performs routine procedures on lab animals
- Records, consolidates and assists with analysis of research results
- Conducts library research on requested topics through researching current literature
- Assists in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures
Responsibilities
- Sets up and operates laboratory equipment
- Monitors research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiates procurement requests as needed.
- Oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities
- Performs a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, plasmid construction, cell cultures.
- Sorts and processes tissue and blood samples
- Performs routine procedures on lab animals
- Records, consolidates and assists with analysis of research results
Other
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required; 4 years of relevant experience required with High School diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience required with Associate's Degree, or 0 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree.
- Assists with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation
- Summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts
- Prepares research progress reports
