Requirements
- single-cylinder engine operation experience, including experience with combustion systems using diesel, natural gas & alternative fuels.
- Proficiency in a wide variety of test systems is required, including use of data acquisition systems (such as Caterpillar VDAC), high speed crank angle-based data acquisition system (such as AVL Indimeter), Vector Canape, Horiba gaseous emissions analyzers, AVL 415 smoke meter, emissions sampling systems such as MKS FTIR, AVL i60, and BG particulate matter sampling.
- Uses a structured approach in analyzing and resolving technical problems.
- Documents test process and results.
- Summarizes features of a specific product-testing process and associated procedures.
- Develops product-testing procedures; participates in selecting testing environment and tools.
- Discusses basic concepts behind a systematic approach to solving technical problems.
Responsibilities
- Orchestrate daily workflow through single cylinder test cell/cell.
- Facilitate problem solving sessions at the appropriate level with all appropriate personnel involved.
- Ensure utilization targets met daily.
- Ensure problem resolution in a timely manner by driving problem resolution.
- Ensure data quality on a daily basis through analyzing data quality check points and periodic checks of ongoing data acquisition.
- Handle planning of the next line of sight testing by setting up project contracts, including cost and time estimates, procuring appropriate hardware and testing systems and instrumentation.
- Evaluate new products, processes, or systems.
