The Ohio State University's Division of Environmental Health Sciences is seeking a Research Technician to assist with laboratory investigations focused on antibiotic resistance in clinical and foodborne pathogens.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with microbiology and molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, gel electrophoresis), microbiological culturing, cell culture, and sterile technique.
- Experience with qPCR, genome sequencing workflows, or bioinformatics tools is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced research environment.
- Research experience in antibiotic resistance.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with microbiology and molecular biology techniques
- Experience with data management and analysis
Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting microbiological and molecular biology experiments, including bacterial culturing, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, and antibiotic susceptibility testing.
- Maintain accurate lab records and follow established protocols.
- Organize and document experimental data.
- Assist in preparing figures and summaries for reports and publications.
- Maintain lab equipment, manage inventory, and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
- Support ordering and stocking of supplies.
- Participate in lab meetings, assist in training new students, and collaborate with other team members on shared tasks.
Other
- High School diploma or GED
- 1 year of relevant experience
- Master’s degree in Microbiology or a relevant field (desired)
