The Ohio State University's Law department is looking to solve the problem of providing legal research and editing support for ongoing academic projects, requiring a Research Technician to assist with legal research, editing tasks, and ensuring accuracy and timeliness on assignments.
Requirements
- Demonstrated proficiency with legal research databases (Westlaw, Lexis, HeinOnline)
- Excellent written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Proven ability to meet short deadlines with both speed and accuracy
- Previous experience as a research assistant or law review editor
- Substantial experience in line editing, page-proof review, and Bluebooking
- Previous experience in the Moritz College of Law
Responsibilities
- Assists with legal research on a variety of legal questions using Westlaw, Lexis, HeinOnline, and other legal databases.
- Assists with editing of academic manuscripts, including line editing, page-proof review, and technical legal editing consistent with Bluebook requirements.
- Gather and verify sources, check citations, and coordinate with student research assistants as needed to ensure the highest standards of accuracy and consistency across projects.
- Conducting research using legal databases such as Westlaw, Lexis, and HeinOnline
- Assisting with line editing and page-proof review
- Gathering and verifying sources
- Assisting with technical legal editing in accordance with Bluebook standards
Other
- High school degree required
- Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check
