The Ohio State University is seeking a Research Technician to assist the Alber lab with generating and isolating acetate-negative mutants of Cereibacter sphaeroides that can be rescued by bicarbonate addition.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One year of relevant experience or 0 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree.
- Bachelor's in Microbiology or related field is desired.
- Experience with aerobic and anaerobic bacterial cultivation.
- Familiarity with basic molecular biology techniques.
- Theoretical background on carbon assimilation.
- Ability to perform lab maintenance tasks such as media and solution preparation.
Responsibilities
- Assist with projects focusing on the generation and isolation of acetate-negative mutants of Cereibacter sphaeroides that can be rescued by the addition of bicarbonate.
- Perform aerobic and anaerobic cultivation of bacteria.
- Utilize basic molecular biology techniques.
- Apply theoretical knowledge of carbon assimilation.
- Perform lab maintenance duties such as preparation of media and general stock solutions.
- Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of lab records.
- Support ongoing research projects in the Alber lab.

- Must be able to complete a background check.
- Position is temporary (fixed term).
- Must be available to work 20 hours per week.
- Must work the first shift.
