The Section of Adult and Pediatric Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at The University of Chicago is seeking a Research Technologist to support their research activities, which are funded by various sources including the NIH. The role will involve performing moderately complex lab and research-related duties to advance the understanding and treatment of endocrine diseases and disorders.
Requirements
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge in relevant scientific field.
- Knowledge of research techniques or methods relevant to the lab – PCR and sequencing, WES data analysis, website design, building sample databases, mouse handling and husbandry, genotyping of mice, cell culture, western blot, enzymatic assays, radioimmunoassays.
Responsibilities
- Setting up and performing experiments.
- Maintains equipment and supplies.
- Maintain the mouse colony needed for experiments – setting up breeding cages, weaning mice and genotyping.
- Assisting with developing data collection tools; assisting with building databases and providing general administrative support in the lab.
- Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.
- Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens.
- Conducts literature reviews.
Other
- Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
- Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
- Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to the research being conducted.
