The University of Kentucky's College of Medicine is seeking to expand its Division of Biomedical Informatics by hiring a tenure-track Assistant Professor. The goal is to enhance the division's expertise and research capabilities in health and biomedical informatics and technologies, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and driving innovation in the field.

Requirements

  • Research experience in computational science and/or biomedical informatics and/or data science, bioinformatics and computational biology.
  • Focus on health and biomedical informatics and technologies.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: Bioinformatics, computational biology
  • Expertise in Precision medicine using integrated data resources such as electronic health records electronic pathology reports, clinical trials, and next generation sequencing
  • Expertise in Data science and augmented intelligence (AI) for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data (clinical texts, web media, imaging, signal, and sensory data)
  • Expertise in Clinical informatics, information systems, clinical decision support

Responsibilities

  • Conduct innovative, rigorous, grant funded research
  • Engage in scholarly activities (peer reviewed publications, presentations, etc.)
  • Contribute to research training of UK graduate students and postdoctoral scholars associated with the Division of Biomedical Informatics
  • Provide mentorship programs, courses, workshops, and supervised research
  • Engage in broader research and training initiatives across the University of Kentucky
  • Provide grant consultation and review
  • Participate in a dynamic speaker series and other enriching events like pilot project competitions
