Alexion's Product Development and Clinical Supply (PDCS) organization is seeking to automate tasks traditionally performed manually by scientists within the Synthetic Product Development (SPD) Team Automation Group.

Requirements

  • Understanding/coursework in the fundamentals of science and engineering.
  • Interest in crafting, modifying, and fixing scripts for laboratory robotics and process automation, and managing seamless data flow.
  • Experience with laboratory robotics or automation.
  • Experience coding with Python or C-Sharp.
  • Knowledge of Amazon Web Services Cloud environments.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to support the development of robotic and automation products or devices.
  • Explore brand new laboratory robotics and automation in our innovative laboratories.
  • Define specific automation solutions for Drug Substance and Drug Product lab processes using new automation instrumentation.
  • Draft job aids and SOPs for automation workflows for lab staff.
  • Address technical challenges related to automating lab procedures.
  • Present technical developments and outcomes scientifically to the PDCS organization.
  • Work with robotics, automation, and/or associated data to help in the operation and optimization of a variety of orchestrated automation tools.

  • Must be actively enrolled in an accredited university for the duration of the internship.
  • Must be available during the full 6-month term and maintain general availability during standard business hours.
  • Ability/desire to acquire new approaches, make mistakes, and then apply findings to improve methods.
  • Ability to work independently balancing multiple projects and initiatives while accomplishing outcomes.
  • Prior wet bench experience in chemistry or biology preferably handling chemicals, solvents, and other hazardous materials in a safe manner.
