Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Global Safety Engineering Manager to drive a strategic approach to delivering high-level engineering services for the AWS Safety team, manage strategic team leadership and development, set and drive team vision and objectives, mentor and grow safety engineer talent, and manage team performance and career development. The role is critical to enabling AWS's growth around the world and ensuring compliance of AWS's global operations.
Requirements
- Experience managing efforts in Unix/Linux environments, distributed systems or developing large-scale web applications
- Knowledge of data center infrastructure design, operations, or delivery
- Experience with Agile or other program management methodologies
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee a team of Safety Engineers and the safety lab.
- Manage and oversee multiple safety engineering projects. This includes technical writing, program maintenance, deployment of new projects, tools and programs, and continuous improvement of existing programs.
- Identify, action, and/or provide advice on how safety engineering will improve and streamline business operations to drive growth, improve organizational efficiency to improve workplace safety
- Develop trusting relationships with partners and customers, understanding their business needs and troubleshoot challenges
- Collaborate with AWS programs teams, field safety teams, Engineering, and other functional team in the development and implementation of H&S operational excellence solutions
- Resource allocation and prioritization across team projects
- Strategic planning and roadmap development at a team level

- 5+ years of people management experience
- 4+ years of technical program management experience
- Experience in people management
- Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, including executive level stakeholders or clients
- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
