Arbor Biotechnologies is seeking to solve the problem of advancing a pipeline of novel gene editing therapeutics to address a wide range of genetic conditions by hiring a Computational Biology Scientist to build and maintain robust computational systems that integrate diverse biological data.
Requirements
- Good understanding of gene editing principles and the computational analysis of gene editing experiments, including indel analysis, off-target assessment, and advanced editing modalities.
- Proficiency in Python and familiarity with version control systems and CI/CD.
- Experience with workflow management systems (e.g., Nextflow, Snakemake) for building and deploying end-to-end analysis pipelines.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS) for scalable data processing and infrastructure management.
- Experience in machine learning algorithm development and implementation for biological applications.
- Familiarity with therapeutic development principles.
- Ability to translate complex biological questions into actionable computational approaches.
Responsibilities
- Perform computational analysis of on-target editing, off-target activities, target identification, and biomarker discovery.
- Design, develop, and productionize scalable bioinformatics pipelines to analyze diverse NGS data types (e.g., amplicon sequencing, RNA-seq, long-read sequencing), implementing best practices for version control and CI/CD.
- Collaborate closely with lab automation, target screening, and therapeutic development teams on experimental design, data interpretation, and the generation of new scientific hypotheses.
- Summarize complex experimental results and computational insights in various formats, including presentations, scientific publications, and patent filings, to internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in the development of novel algorithms or methodologies to address computational challenges and accelerate program progression.
Other
- Education: Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Genomics with a strong biological focus, or a closely related quantitative field.
- Experience: 0-2 years of industry experience in computational biology post-Ph.D.
- Ability to work in a team and collaborate with lab automation, target screening, and therapeutic development teams.
- Ability to communicate complex experimental results and computational insights to internal and external stakeholders.
