Google Search is reimagining what it means to search for information and needs to solve complex engineering challenges and expand its infrastructure while maintaining a universally accessible and useful experience for billions of users globally. This role will focus on developing and deploying models, including LLMs and multi-modal systems, to analyze, classify, and enrich content at a massive scale, advancing the state-of-the-art in content understanding.
Requirements
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 7 years of experience leading technical project strategy, ML design, and working with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging, fine tuning).
- 5 years of experience with one or more of the following: Speech/audio (e.g., technology duplicating and responding to the human voice), reinforcement learning (e.g., sequential decision making), ML infrastructure, or specialization in another ML field.
- 5 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products.
- 8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
- 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
- Experience with information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy models, including Large Language Models (LLMs) and multi-modal systems, to analyze, classify, and enrich content at a massive scale.
- Conduct applied research on novel modeling techniques to solve concrete challenges in content understanding, such as identifying nuanced topics, assessing content quality, and understanding UGC.
- Collaborate with partner teams and cross-functional partners to integrate the content signals into production retrieval, ranking, and personalization systems.
- Advance the state-of-the-art in key content domains, such as extracting structured information (e.g., suitable for vegetarians or meat lovers) from unstructured text using signals from text, images, and video for multi-modal understanding (e.g. extract useful signals from mixed-format story clusters).
- Develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another.
- Work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve.
- Handle information at massive scale, and extend well beyond web search.
Other
- Versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack.
- 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
- Full-time position.
- Equal opportunity workplace and affirmative action employer.
- Consider qualified applicants regardless of criminal histories, consistent with legal requirements.
