Collins Aerospace is seeking a Solution Design Engineer to design and implement cutting-edge, secure, air-gapped technology solutions in support of mission-critical programs.
Requirements
- Expertise in system design, evaluating, selecting, and integrating enterprise solutions.
- Strong knowledge of security controls for classified and air-gapped environments (encryption, network segmentation, secure communications).
- In-depth experience with cybersecurity frameworks and standards (e.g., NISPOM, DAAPM, NIST, NIAP, CNSSI 1253, JSIG).
- Experience in Requirements Decomposition, Model-Based Systems Engineering, and ITIL Lifecycle.
- Strong understanding of network technologies (routers, switches, firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs) in secure environments.
- Familiarity with TOGAF methodology and its application in designing large-scale, secure systems.
- Certification in relevant technologies (e.g., Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), TOGAF, or equivalent)
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and optimize secure technology solutions for air-gapped networks, focusing on network infrastructure, cybersecurity, and system design.
- Lead the development of high-performance infrastructure solutions to meet mission-critical objectives.
- Collaborate with teams to integrate secure technologies in regulated environments and ensure compliance with DoD standards (e.g., STIGs, NIST).
- Oversee system implementation and integration, ensuring operational and security requirements are met.
- Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance on system design, troubleshooting, and secure deployments.
- Create technical documentation, including system/network diagrams, design specs, and operational procedures.
- Work with cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges in classified environments.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD security clearance prior to the start date.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and collaborate with clients and internal teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
