Spring Health is looking to revolutionize mental healthcare by removing barriers to access and is seeking a Senior AI Clinical Research Scientist to evaluate the safety and efficacy of digital mental health tools and automate safety monitoring pipelines.
Requirements
- PhD in a quantitative field (e.g., Machine Learning, Computer Science, Biostatistics, Psychology)
- Track record of 3 first author pubs
- Expertise in LLM, AI/ML model development, validation, and backtesting
- Proficiency in Python and/or R
- Able to distill complex AI safety findings for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Prior experience in clinical research settings or working with IRBs/DSMBs
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and MLOps frameworks
Responsibilities
- Design and execute research studies that evaluate the safety and efficacy of clinical AI tools
- Develop and operationalize automated safety monitoring plans, including real-time signal detection and alerting frameworks
- Collaborate with engineering and data teams to build feature-rich datasets, curate annotated transcripts, and automate labeling workflows
- Engage in customer and external-facing interactions to gather requirements and share findings around AI safety performance
- Author and submit high-impact academic manuscripts for peer review and conferences
