Molecular Devices is looking to design and implement AI assistants and agents for microscopy applications to empower researchers to tackle complex questions and gain deep insights, accelerating the development of safer, more effective therapeutics.
Requirements
- Proficiency in core AI technologies (e.g., RAG, Agentic AI, Agent-to-Agent, LLMs, foundation models, NLP, etc.)
- experience with AI libraries/frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, etc.)
- Python and/or R
- familiarity with data processing tools.
- Experience with control of scientific research or medical equipment.
- Experience implementing an AI assistant and agent systems in commercial applications.
Responsibilities
- AI System Design: Architect and develop the AI assistant and agent systems for the microscope control software, ensuring it meets user needs and enhances accessibility.
- Data Management: Design the input and output data required for the AI assistant, oversee the collection and preprocessing of data, and develop scalable data pipelines.
- Model Selection, Tuning and Training: Identify and select appropriate AI models for the assistant, considering factors such as performance, scalability, and ease of integration.
- Train AI models using collected data, ensuring they perform accurately and efficiently.
- Model Verification: Verify and adjust AI models based on feedback from users, continuously improving the assistant's performance.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including biologists, software engineers, and data scientists, to ensure the AI assistant meets the needs of all stakeholders.
- Gather and analyze feedback from users to refine and enhance the AI assistant's functionality.
Other
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred; Bachelor’s degree with directly relevant experience acceptable.
- Minimum of 5 years in commercial software development, with at least 2 years focused on AI and machine learning applications.
- Understanding of biological imaging techniques (e.g., fluorescence and brightfield microscopy) and familiarity with life science research or clinical applications.
- Strong analytical mindset, ability to develop and implement complex data-driven solutions and manage competing priorities effectively.
- Less than 10% travel
