Nationwide is seeking a Senior Analytic Engineer to design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines that support machine learning models and advanced analytics, transforming raw data into reliable, well-documented datasets optimized for analysis and modeling.

Requirements

  • Strong experience with ETL/ELT development and data pipeline architecture
  • Proficiency in SQL and either Python or R
  • Familiarity with statistical and machine learning concepts
  • Understanding of data governance principles and best practices
  • Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms such as AWS, Databricks, or Snowflake
  • Exposure to DataOps or MLOps methodologies and tools
  • Experience with generative AI design and implementation

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain scalable ETL/ELT processes to support data science initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver high-quality datasets
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and compliance with governance standards
  • Synthesize data architecture and data transformation skills to identify areas for process simplification and data integration opportunities, providing recommendations and solutions to the project team.
  • Builds applications that align to business needs and support objectives using statistical, database and/or general programming languages and tools.
  • Designs and develops data sets. Understands how to create analytical data sets to meet the needs of scientists and researchers who are building statistical or machine learning models.
  • Crafts, builds, packages and communicates analytic work (synthesis) using appropriate statistical techniques to determine patterns to drive business outcomes and trends.

  • This role does not qualify for employer sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the STEM OPT extension program.
  • Undergraduate studies required in computer science, mathematics, analytic, data science, and related degrees.
  • 6-8 years of demonstrated experience in role responsibilities.
  • Proven expertise (increasing with the level) is expected for query languages such as SQL, database architecture and data warehousing, reporting tools (e.g., Tableau), requirements development, cloud computing, UNIX/Linux terminal and/or shell scripting experience.
  • Experience in the financial services industry, especially in insurance, is desired.
