Nationwide is seeking a Senior Analytic Engineer to design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines that support machine learning models and advanced analytics, transforming raw data into reliable, well-documented datasets optimized for analysis and modeling.
Requirements
- Strong experience with ETL/ELT development and data pipeline architecture
- Proficiency in SQL and either Python or R
- Familiarity with statistical and machine learning concepts
- Understanding of data governance principles and best practices
- Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms such as AWS, Databricks, or Snowflake
- Exposure to DataOps or MLOps methodologies and tools
- Experience with generative AI design and implementation
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain scalable ETL/ELT processes to support data science initiatives
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver high-quality datasets
- Ensure data integrity, consistency, and compliance with governance standards
- Synthesize data architecture and data transformation skills to identify areas for process simplification and data integration opportunities, providing recommendations and solutions to the project team.
- Builds applications that align to business needs and support objectives using statistical, database and/or general programming languages and tools.
- Designs and develops data sets. Understands how to create analytical data sets to meet the needs of scientists and researchers who are building statistical or machine learning models.
- Crafts, builds, packages and communicates analytic work (synthesis) using appropriate statistical techniques to determine patterns to drive business outcomes and trends.

- Undergraduate studies required in computer science, mathematics, analytic, data science, and related degrees.
- 6-8 years of demonstrated experience in role responsibilities.
- Proven expertise (increasing with the level) is expected for query languages such as SQL, database architecture and data warehousing, reporting tools (e.g., Tableau), requirements development, cloud computing, UNIX/Linux terminal and/or shell scripting experience.
- Experience in the financial services industry, especially in insurance, is desired.
