The New York Times is looking to reshape how readers experience their journalism by creating innovative new features for their Storytelling team.
Requirements
- 5+ years of Android experience in Kotlin, including writing unit tests, networking, data persistence and UI
- Demonstrated expertise in modern Android technologies such as Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Dagger/Hilt, MVVM/MVI, and Room
- Experience translating product goals into excellent, delivered features
- Experience building media-rich user interfaces with images and video
- Comfortable collaborating with backend engineers to optimize API Interaction at scale
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable Android features in Kotlin
- Bring a product mindset to collaboratively align technical solutions with product and editorial goals
- Working with backend and cross-platform engineers to deliver cohesive, integrated features
- Contribute to roadmap planning, architecture decisions, and continuous improvement of released features
- Stay up-to-date on Android best practices and bring new ideas to the team
Other
- This is a hybrid role based in NYC, typically in-office two days a week.
- You'll report to the Senior Native Engineering Manager, Storytelling.
