The NYPD's Information Technology Services Division needs to maintain and enhance the department's IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and workstations, to support law enforcement operations and improve efficiency. This role is pivotal in maintaining the NYPD's technological edge and promoting safety and effectiveness in law enforcement operations.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in relevant programming languages, frameworks, and technologies (e.g., .NET Core, C-Sharp, Web API, ASP.NET)
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies and best practices
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
  • Experience with cloud-native solution architecture and design patterns
  • Two (2) years of satisfactory full-time software experience in designing, programming, debugging, maintaining, implementing, and enhancing computer software applications, systems programming, systems analysis and design, data communication software, or database design and programming
  • One year in a project leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project
  • One year of satisfactory experience in a project leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project in data administration, database management systems, operating systems, data communications systems, capacity planning, and/or on-line applications programming.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications, focusing on web applications, APIs, and other relevant technologies.
  • Create technical specifications based on business requirements and conceptual designs.
  • Analyze code to identify and resolve errors and performance issues.
  • Review app, feature coding and plan future website upgrades.
  • Lead and manage software development projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
  • Ensure team adherence to SOPs, including change management, coding standards, and knowledge management.
  • Proactively manage resources to meet department goals.
