Blake Willson Group is looking to improve financial stewardship for the welfare, defense, and security of the nation by harnessing technology, and this role as a Data Engineer will support mission-critical operations by designing, maintaining, and modernizing enterprise database systems.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of experience working with RDBMS platforms (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • 1+ year of experience with backup/recovery, clustering, replication, and high-availability solutions
  • 1+ years of experience in SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL, and database scripting
  • Relevant industry certification (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, AWS Certified Database Specialty)
  • Knowledge of federal IT security standards (FISMA, NIST, FedRAMP) and experience supporting database modernization initiatives in federal environments
  • Familiarity with cloud-hosted databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, GCP Cloud SQL), hybrid deployments, and containerized solutions (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Hands-on experience with performance tuning, monitoring tools, capacity planning, and database automation (Ansible, Liquibase, Flyway)

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, patch, and upgrade enterprise database systems (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.).
  • Maintain high availability, backup/recovery, disaster recovery, and replication strategies.
  • Implement and monitor database security policies in compliance with BEP and federal requirements.
  • Develop and maintain all required Enterprise Lifecycle (ELC) documentation, including Security Packages, Configuration Management Plans, and Interface Control Documents.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance, storage utilization, and query efficiency.
  • Analyze execution plans and tune indexes, queries, and stored procedures.
  • Manage capacity planning and forecasting for future growth.

Other

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, Database Administrator, or related role
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis and have the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical teams and prepare executive-level documentation
  • Travel not mentioned, but 100% remote work
