The Advancement Operations division at Skidmore College needs to manage, oversee, and strategize its database operations to ensure efficient gift processing, accurate reporting, and compliance with industry standards. This role is crucial for maintaining data integrity, supporting advancement initiatives, and providing necessary training and support for staff.

Requirements

  • Broad experience and proficiency with computer systems and relational databases.
  • Knowledge of computer networking, system servers, computer software, computer hardware and reporting tools.
  • Direct experience working with databases and an appreciation and understanding of the importance of data in the context of business rules and reporting.
  • Direct and significant experience working with Raisers Edge.
  • Experience using Omatic, PowerBI, and a working knowledge of SQL.
  • Proficient using MS office applications, especially Excel and Word.
  • Ability to quickly adapt and learn new software platforms – and then become versed in training others to learn and adopt new tools and related processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and management for advancement related systems.
  • Serve as project lead and manager on Advancement database conversions, upgrades, maintenance, and business processes.
  • Collaborate on the design and implementation of systems integration and flows between advancement systems.
  • Responsible for database management for advancement database and department technology (i.e. iModules, web forms, data integration).
  • Manage and set up security permissions, business rules, staff codes and roles for systems used by the Advancement Division.
  • Develop and implement procedures to ensure quality data to support advancement division initiatives.
  • Manage PCI compliance for Advancement Division.

Other

  • Bachelor’s degree required or commensurate work experience leading technical teams, managing databases and in a client-focused environment.
  • 8-10 plus years of working in an educational environment preferred.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and projects in deadline driven environment.
  • Commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills as this position works with a variety of people with various skill levels.
  • Experience managing technical staff, committed to professional development of employees.
  • Demonstrated positive leadership skills.
  • Must be customer service oriented.
  • Broad understanding and appreciation for fundraising/advancement work.
  • Work advancement events and perform other responsibilities as necessary.
