Requirements
- Mid-to-senior level backend engineering experience with Node.js and TypeScript
- Solid hands-on experience building RESTful APIs, services, and backend workflow logic
- Familiarity with backend testing (unit, functional/e2e, load), security audits, debugging, observability, alerting, and performance optimization
- Experience working with relational databases (like PostgreSQL), index/query optimization, backend validation, and coding APIs defensively against user input
- Comfort working in Agile environments (planning, refinement, standups, retrospectives)
- Experience or interest in FHIR, healthcare data, or data interoperability
- Exposure to MCP (Model Context Protocol), AI/LLM models, and integration with tools like AWS Bedrock
Responsibilities
- Design and implement backend services using Node.js/TypeScript, supporting data ingestion, transformation, and API integration workflows
- Work closely with client teams to clarify requirements, propose technical approaches, and ensure backend services align with interoperability standards such as FHIR or MCP frameworks
- Help shape the direction of the backend stack—improving performance, reliability, logging, error handling, and automation across the service
- Operate independently and unblock yourself when working as the primary backend engineer
- Engage directly with clients or stakeholders, communicating technical decisions and trade-offs
- Perform backend testing (unit, functional/e2e, load), security audits, debugging, observability, alerting, and performance optimization
