SoundCloud is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join their Fan Monetization team to build the infrastructure behind features that help artists grow their careers and connect more deeply with their fans. This involves working with large-scale distributed systems, complex integrations, and high-throughput data flows to power fan-to-artist monetization features.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience building and operating high-traffic distributed systems
- Production experience shipping services in Golang, TypeScript, Node.js, GraphQL, and Protobuf
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MySQL, BigQuery, and Redis is a plus
- Hands-on experience deploying and managing services in cloud environments (AWS preferred) using Terraform for infrastructure as code
- Familiarity with messaging/queuing systems such as Kafka, Kinesis, and SQS
- Passionate about using emerging AI technologies to enhance coding and software quality
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance services using Golang, TypeScript, Node.js, GraphQL, and Protobuf
- Build and scale backend systems that power fan-to-artist monetization features, helping fans support their favorite artists
- Integrate with payment solutions and expose functionality directly to web and mobile frontends
- Collaborate with product leadership, payments experts, and engineering teams across SoundCloud
- Become a domain expert in fan monetization and artist-fan engagement
- Communicate team needs to the wider organization to ensure efficiency and alignment
- Operate independently with simple guidance, driving projects from inception to completion
