Life360 is looking to evolve its backend services to handle its growing user base by breaking down its monolithic architecture into microservices. The company aims to build scalable, reliable systems to support new product features and global expansion.
Requirements
- 7+ years of prior professional experience working on backend and Cloud code
- Proficient in microservices and horizontally scalable architectures
- Experience with high-scale, low-latency systems
- Understand how to deploy and maintain systems, ideally with Kubernetes
- Experience with AWS (EC2, EKS, DynamoDB, Kinesis)
- Experience with databases (MySQL)
- Experience with languages (Java, PHP, Python)
Responsibilities
- Create new Spring Java microservices to break down the existing PHP monolith or support new product features
- Scale or decompose existing PHP monolith services and endpoints
- Create new API gateways to enable external integrations
- Horizontally scale the system to handle another 10+ billion events per day
- Monitor health, suggest improvements for, and deploy your own services
- Build the next generation of event streaming architecture to handle billions of events per day storing up to trillions of events in cold storage
- Build a platform to support Machine Learning model processing to power predictive features in Life360
Other
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar quantitative field or the equivalent industry experience
- Diligent in implementing and supporting services that last outwards to a year
- Adaptive to working on various aspects of the system for different teams
- Communicate effectively with cross-platform teammates
- Bonus for experience working with Kafka Streams
