Postman is looking to enhance its core API client product by improving its infrastructure to delight developers, simplify request sending and debugging, and build a multi-protocol future. This involves strengthening the backend systems that handle code execution, data syncing, telemetry, and observability.
Requirements
- 8+ years of backend engineering experience, with a strong foundation in Node.js and/or Golang.
- Deep expertise and experience in Kubernetes, Docker, Grafana, and modern CI/CD infrastructure.
- Have built, maintained, and scaled distributed systems in production environments.
- Familiarity with distributed tracing tools (e.g., OpenTelemetry, Jaeger).
- Knowledge of CRDTs, real-time systems, or collaborative libraries and technologies like yjs.
- Past experience in developer tools or API platforms.
Responsibilities
- Bring depth, craft, and resilience to the infrastructure that underpins the API client.
- Be a key contributor in realizing the thematic goals of delighting the developer, simplifying request sending and debugging, and building the multi-protocol future.
- Work on backend systems responsible for executing code, orchestrating local runtimes, syncing data, collecting telemetry, and providing observability.
- Navigate legacy codebases and leave them better than you found them.
- Think in systems: be passionate about observability, reliability, and performance.
- Ensure that observability, reliability, and performance are understood by everyone on the team as it relates to our backend systems.
- Build a product experience you believe in, not just writing backend code.

- The reasonably estimated base salary for this role ranges from $210,000 to $240,000, plus a competitive equity package.
- Employees are expected to come into the office 3-days a week for roles based out of San Francisco Bay Area, Boston, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and New York.
