The Nevada Health Authority, Office of Analytics (NVHA/OOA) needs to transform complex public health data into interactive, user-friendly dashboards to inform decision-making and drive public health action. This role will support public health initiatives across Nevada by visualizing trends, outcomes, and performance metrics.
Requirements
- Demonstrated proficiency using dashboarding tools including proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, data modeling and dashboard design.
- Experience with statistical software (e.g., SAS, R, STATA, SPSS)
- Strong understanding of biostatistical methods, epidemiology, and public health principles.
- Ability to analyze large datasets and present findings through compelling visualizations and written reports.
- Familiarity with SQL, data warehousing or other data management tools is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards using Microsoft Power BI that clearly communicate public health data to internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct statistical analyses and data preparation to support dashboard content and ensure accuracy and relevance.
- Ensure dashboards are optimized for performance, accessibility, and usability across devices and user types.
- Write clear, concise documentation and reports that explain dashboard logic, data sources, and key findings.
- Provide training and technical support to staff on using and interpreting dashboards.
- Assist in evaluating public health programs by visualizing outcomes and trends through dashboards and reports.
- Take on special projects as assigned, contributing both statistical and visualization expertise to emerging public health priorities.
Other
- Minimum 2-4 years of experience in biostatistics or data analysis, preferably in a public health or state agency setting.
- Experience working with large public health or healthcare-related datasets
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to evolving public health needs.
