GM is looking to solve the problem of managing its software and technology purchasing, including understanding the supply base, technologies, products used, future potential products, and how this fits into IT’s vision.
Requirements
- SAP experience or ability to learn purchasing systems
- High level knowledge about Software/ technology Purchasing
- Knowledge of procurement software
- Solid knowledge of contract law and its applications regarding purchasing processes
- Engineering background with Software purchasing experience is preferred.
- Understand basic engineering documents
- Ability to analyze data and draw meaningful conclusions to make sound recommendations
Responsibilities
- Partner with IT and Business on strategy of supply base, technologies, products used, future products, technology roadmap, and viable suppliers for technology requirements.
- Develop and manage suppliers under the guidance of quality, service, technology, and price negotiations.
- Manage annual renewal cadence and deadlines proactively.
- Negotiate competitive pricing, robust terms, and potential other items to complete a full contract package.
- Develop and maintain benchmark data to drive a strategy.
- Utilize Global Purchasing and Supply Chain sourcing process to manage Sourcing packages.
- Understand the Software, IT, and Automotive industries and the long-term direction GM software and services is headed.

- Ability to work effectively cross functionally, internally and externally, while building strong relationships
- Ability to travel 10% of the time domestically + Internationally
- 5+ years relevant post-graduate work experience in purchasing, logistics, supply chain, or program management
- Professional interpersonal verbal and written communication skills
- Adhere to corporate purchasing and accounting policies and procedures
