To deliver a robust, high-performance global edge platform that seamlessly connects users to content and services with unparalleled reliability, security, and speed. PayPal needs to architect, operate, and continuously evolve its Content Delivery Network, External DNS services, and Load Balancing infrastructure to ensure optimal digital experiences across all geographies and devices for its international payments platform.

Requirements

  • Strong foundation of networking protocols, SSL, HTTP Framework, and Application Performance Optimization.
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, DNS, VPN, firewalls and load balancers.
  • Experience with network security best practices and technologies (e.g. firewalls, load balancers, intrusion detection/prevention systems).
  • System Design and Architectural knowledge principles.
  • Basic expertise and knowledge on Artificial Intelligence technology like MCP (Model Context Protocol).
  • Proficient in one Cloud Technology like GCP, AWS or Azure.
  • Proficient with a CDN vendor like Fastly, Cloudflare etc.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee load balancers, Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB) equipment, Content Delivery Network (CDN) platforms, and troubleshoot client/server issues.
  • Deploy equipment, manage SSL certificate hosting and renewal, and build infrastructure for data centers and cloud environments.
  • Support & manage system availability, and ensure compliance with Information Security standards.
  • Offer on-call support, monitor infrastructure and hosted services, and troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Handle proactive and reactive outages, work with vendors, and take ownership of network incidents, escalations, and root cause analysis.
  • Communicate incident impacts, risks, and mitigation plans to executives, document incident information, and create network engineering documentation and best practices.
  • Implement rapid response protocols for critical infrastructure failures affecting global operations.

Other

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience and a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale, mission-critical infrastructure environments.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to present to executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide technical team members.
