Moderna is seeking a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement, and manage secure, scalable, and highly available cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments to support a high-growth organization transforming the biotech industry.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, with a focus on AWS and hybrid datacenter environments.
- Deep expertise in Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, or Ansible.
- Proficient in scripting with Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and configuration management.
- Strong foundation in networking concepts, server/storage systems, and infrastructure protocols (DNS, NFS, LDAP, etc.).
- Demonstrated experience in designing and operating resilient, secure, and scalable systems.
- AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, or DevOps Engineer.
- Experience in container orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure with a strong emphasis on scalability, resiliency, and security.
- Support hybrid environments, integrating on-premise infrastructure with public cloud platforms.
- Perform advanced OS-level troubleshooting and root cause analysis across Linux and Windows environments.
- Drive automation of infrastructure and operations using tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, AWS CDK, and Ansible.
- Develop and maintain scripts (Python, Bash, PowerShell) to automate operational tasks and configuration management.
- Integrate and manage observability tools (monitoring, logging, alerting) to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows to enable rapid, safe, and repeatable infrastructure changes.

- Interface with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable infrastructure solutions.
- Support global application, engineering, and manufacturing teams with infrastructure services and best practices.
- Lead infrastructure incident resolution efforts, root cause analysis (RCA), and detailed post-mortem reviews.
- Develop and maintain up-to-date infrastructure documentation, including architectural diagrams, operational runbooks, and configuration standards.
- Contribute to internal knowledge sharing by mentoring peers and documenting lessons learned from operational experiences.
