Microsoft Digital (MSD) is looking for a Senior Cloud Network Engineer to join the Microsoft Infrastructure Engineering Services (IES) organization. This role is crucial for managing Microsoft's enterprise global network routing and optical infrastructure, focusing on developing innovative solutions and ensuring service reliability by identifying and eradicating defects within the infrastructure. The goal is to maximize productivity and lead the company's digital transformation journey by building flexible, reliable, and enterprise-scalable solutions.
Requirements
- Experienced with fiber optic network design, installation, and maintenance.
- Experienced with design and capacity planning, and relevant design software and testing equipment.
- Experienced interpreting fiber plant documentation and schematics.
- Experienced with fusion splicing techniques to accomplish spicing of fiber optic cables.
- Experienced with implementation of network protection techniques.
- Experienced with OTDR, light source and power meter testing to verify cable integrity and performance.
- Knowledge of network security principles and best practices.
Responsibilities
- You will apply Knowledge of cabling infrastructure, Industry Trends, and Field Data towards implementation and operations.
- Network Development – You will create bill of materials and translate high-level design into low-level design and collaboration.
- Design Reviews and Quality Assurance – You will participate or contribute to network design or code reviews.
- You will apply secure by design philosophy to ensure design meets best practice security standards
- You will monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot network cabling infrastructure; participate in on-call/Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) duties and create root cause analysis for network incidents.
- You will apply Continuous Improvement, testing and validation of network and optical devices.
- Deployment Management - You will work within a team of engineers to manage network deployments.

- This position is located at the Redmond campus, with 3 days per week work in the office and 2 days per week work from home.

- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
