New Relic is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to be the analytical backbone of their finance team, solving urgent, ad-hoc requests and building robust financial dashboards to move the organization beyond static Excel.

Requirements

  • Expert-level proficiency in SQL. You must be able to write complex, multi-table joins, aggregations, and window functions from scratch with speed and accuracy.
  • Strong experience using a BI tool (Tableau, Looker) to explore data and visualize findings.
  • Direct experience querying data from large-scale ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite).
  • Experience with financial planning software (e.g., Anaplan)
  • Familiarity with cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift).
  • Scripting experience for data manipulation (e.g., Python).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct complex variance analysis and perform ad-hoc data analysis on large, complex datasets to identify the underlying drivers of business performance.
  • Develop and maintain robust, driver-based financial models to support long-range planning and scenario analysis.
  • Design, build, and maintain a suite of robust financial dashboards and reports in Tableau, moving finance reporting from static Excel sheets to automated, interactive solutions.
  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive monthly and quarterly management reporting packages that provide clear, actionable insights.
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries on the fly to extract, join, and synthesize data from multiple sources (ERP, CRM, expense systems, data warehouse).
  • Collaborate with Analytics and Data Engineering teams to define data requirements, build robust data pipelines, and ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial data sources.

Other

  • Act as a key data partner to finance functional leaders and serve as the primary point of contact for ad-hoc data and analysis requests from senior finance leadership.
  • Partner with Accounting, Finance Operations, and FP&A to improve data integrity, financial reporting accuracy, and month-end close efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with the accounting team during the month-end close process to ensure accurate accruals and financial reporting.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance the efficiency of existing financial planning and reporting processes.
  • A strong understanding of core finance and accounting principles (P&L, OpEx, CapEx, accruals, journal entries). You must be able to "speak finance" and understand the questions you're being asked.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, a "detective" mindset, and a strong sense of data curiosity.
  • A proactive, self-starting attitude with a high sense of urgency and the proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing accuracy.
  • Prior experience in a dedicated FP&A function.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • In compliance with applicable law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work and to complete employment eligibility verification.
  • Note: Our stewardship of the data of thousands of customers means that a criminal background check is required to join New Relic.
  • We will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records based on individual circumstances and in accordance with applicable law including, but not limited to, the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance.
  • Headhunters and recruitment agencies may not submit resumes/CVs through this website or directly to managers.
  • New Relic develops and distributes encryption software and technology that complies with U.S. export controls and licensing requirements.

  • Candidates are evaluated based on qualifications, regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender expression or identity, age, disability, neurodiversity, veteran or marital status, political viewpoint, or other legally protected characteristics.
