The Oregon Health Authority needs a Senior Data Analyst to manage and coordinate data analysis projects for Drinking Water Services, including the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund and new programs established by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
Requirements
- Experience working with relational databases and creating SQL queries
- Ability to maintain legacy data entry applications in Microsoft Access using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)
- Ability to develop and maintain web pages using PHP, JavaScript, and jQuery
- Experience with data analysis and statistical software
- Ability to support website modernization and improvement efforts including security risk mitigation, PHP upgrades, and increased functionality
- Ability to plan research studies and perform data analysis to identify trends and/or patterns in water system data to assess compliance that may present risk or impact health equity
- Ability to review narrative and statistical information gathered to report and explain significant data trends to federal and state agencies, local public health authorities, and for special projects
Responsibilities
- Collect, analyze and display data to evaluate water quality in Oregon
- Create customized queries and reports using data from the Oregon Safe Drinking Water Information System (SDWIS), DWS databases, and shared data from partnering agencies and organizations
- Design and implement data analysis projects that will benefit drinking water education, outreach, and research in Oregon
- Enhance existing database management systems to support partnering agencies and organizations through information sharing and promoting health equity
- Plan research studies and perform data analysis to identify trends and/or patterns in water system data to assess compliance that may present risk or impact health equity
- Develop and maintain web pages using PHP, JavaScript, and jQuery
- Support website modernization and improvement efforts including security risk mitigation, PHP upgrades, and increased functionality
Other
- A Bachelor's Degree in any discipline that included six-quarter units in statistics or quantitative analysis methods and procedures, and one year experience using computerized applications to independently gather, compile, and analyze data and prepare narrative or statistical reports
- Four years of research experience using computerized applications to independently gather, compile, and analyze data and prepare narrative or statistical reports
- Ability to work remotely with full access to the needed operating systems and technology
- Occasional mandatory onsite visits, though limited (usually only 2-3 times per year), may require travel expenses for employees outside of the onsite office location
- Daily computer use for extended periods and meetings with the supervisor, other unit members, partners and the public over the phone or computer applications such as Zoom, Skype, and Microsoft Teams
