Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) is seeking an Ecological Senior Professional to help grow the Ecological Practice in the Houston office, which provides approximately 10% of the company's annual revenues.
Requirements
- B.S./M.S. degree in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Science, or related technical field
- 15+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: aquatic ecology; threatened and endangered species consultation; or environmental permitting and reporting
- Knowledge of City of Houston Environmental Criteria Manual and experience with Environmental Resource Inventories and Floodplain Health Assessments
- Experience with TCEQ regulations and Geologic Assessments
- Experience with Section 401, 402, 404 Federal Clean Water Act Regulations
- Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) certification (a plus)
- Proficiency in geographic information systems (GIS) (a plus)
Responsibilities
- Developing business for CEC through utilization of existing network and internal CEC resources
- Collaborating with staff ecologists and leading projects
- Providing senior technical expertise and mentoring to staff and managers in the ecological practice
- Conducting wetland and stream assessments, delineations, and mitigation
- Performing Section 401/404 permitting
- Conducting endangered species surveys, including bats and plants
- Developing Endangered Species Act strategy and compliance

- Local and national contacts and the ability to develop and market to new and existing clients
- Demonstrated client development and management experience
- Ability to work with state and federal regulators
