Appian is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to build foundational datasets and pipelines, as well as the infrastructure that supports them, across all Appian business functions. The goal is to accelerate the decision-making process of key product and business functions by delivering metrics and KPIs.
Requirements
- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines and automating data availability and accuracy.
- Experience building high quality ETL/ELT pipelines using cloud-based tools such as Informatica Cloud (preferred), Fivetran, SSIS, etc.
- Experience with cloud-based data technologies such as BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake, Databricks or similar.
- Expert knowledge of SQL, Python and integration with APIs.
- Experience developing data products to drive data science and machine learning initiatives.
- Knowledge of data visualization tools such as Tableau, MS Power BI or Looker.
- Translate business logic into actionable artifacts like source to target mapping, data integration patterns, etc.
Responsibilities
- Build foundational datasets and pipelines, as well as the infrastructure that supports them, across all Appian business functions including sales, finance, marketing, people and product.
- Partner closely with business stakeholders to understand their data and analytics needs and with business intelligence developers to deliver metrics and KPIs to accelerate the decision-making process of key product and business functions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand source architecture, data models and processes.
- Facilitate discovery and requirement gathering sessions and build productive partnerships with various business stakeholders to understand their data needs for reporting and analytics.
- Develop data pipelines using tools such as Informatica Cloud, Python and SQL to ingest, transform and manipulate data for analysis and reporting purposes.
- Provide data modeling and data architecture recommendations to ensure core data assets are managed and governed as per enterprise standards.
- Drive standards in data reliability, data integrity, and data governance, enabling accurate, consistent, and trustworthy data.

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree.
