Zoro.com is looking to expand and transform its operational and analytical data warehouse to support Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and business intelligence/insights. The Senior Data Engineer I will design and construct cloud-native data pipelines and services to provide efficient data access across the enterprise.
Requirements
- Expert level experience of software craftsmanship, SQL, and proficient in multiple programming languages
- Expert level experience of data modeling and data architecture
- Mid level experience of cloud infrastructure
- Expert level experience of batch and streaming data pipelines
- Expert level experience with data quality assurance techniques, including data validation and testing methodologies
- Mid level experience in building data focused microservices
Responsibilities
- Assist in building, optimizing, and maintaining data pipelines to ensure efficient data flow from various sources to our data warehouse and other data storage solutions.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to integrate data from multiple sources, including internal systems, third-party APIs, and external datasets, ensuring data consistency and integrity.
- Support the design and implementation of data models that facilitate efficient querying and reporting.
- Learn and apply best practices for optimizing query performance and data processing workflows.
- Contribute to upholding best practices for data management, including data security, privacy, and compliance.
- Assist in creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation of data processes, pipelines, and architecture.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to data engineers on your team, fostering a culture of curiosity, technical expertise, and continuous learning and improvement.
Other
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in data engineering, software development, or a related field
- This role will be based out of our Chicago HQ and will have an onsite requirement of 2 days a week.
