Velocity Global is looking for a Sr. Data Engineer to join their BI team to deliver scalable, reliable, and insightful data solutions, shape the analytics infrastructure, guide data-driven decision-making, and ensure teams have access to accurate data.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in an analytics engineering, data engineering, or similar role.
- 3+ years hands-on experience with dbt for data transformation.
- Proficiency in SQL and with building reports and dashboards using Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
- An understanding of data modeling concepts and best practices for building scalable reporting solutions.
- Familiarity with cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery) and modern data stack (Fivetran, Atlan, Airflow, and Monte Carlo).
Responsibilities
- Investigate system data issues and perform data cleanup across multiple data sources.
- Develop automation solutions for data manipulation tasks, improving efficiency and accuracy.
- Create ETL processes from different data sources, analyzing data completeness and accuracy.
- Work with the Business Intelligence team to provide clean datasets and support data-intensive applications.
- Design and implement machine learning model test and deployment strategies.
- Contribute to the implementation of engineering best practices, including unit tests and integration tests in a CI/CD environment.
- Help develop data-intensive web applications within a microservices architecture.

- Collaborate with teams to meet data requirements for different departments.
- Gain expert-level knowledge of our data systems, ensuring data quality and integrity.
- Experience collaborating with teams to create data solutions that meet our needs.
- Experience communicating updates and resolutions to customers and other partners and experience turning complex data into easy-to-understand insights.
- This role requires in office presence in our Palo Alto office, 3 days/week.
