Epirus is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to take ownership of the full lifecycle of data and model-serving pipelines, ensuring scalability, reliability, and adherence to governance standards for their national security technology.
Requirements
- Strong experience with Python and C++ in production systems.
- Proficiency in data pipeline orchestration (Airflow or similar).
- Strong database design and optimization skills.
- Experience deploying on Docker/Kubernetes with CI/CD automation.
- TensorRT optimization for deployed models.
- Exposure to PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Experience with video data processing pipelines in production.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain production-quality data transformation and pipeline code, with clear documentation for reproducibility.
- Refactor and optimize existing pipelines for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Build and manage databases — including large-scale video data storage, indexing, and retrieval.
- Develop and orchestrate ETL/ELT workflows (Airflow or similar).
- Deploy and maintain workloads in Docker/Kubernetes environments.
- Configure and manage CI/CD automation for seamless releases.
- Serve as system administrator for pipeline-related infrastructure: user management, permissions, storage, and security controls.

- 5+ years of professional data engineering experience in a disciplined environment (enterprise, finance, healthcare, defense, or similar regulated/structured industry).
- Proven track record as a self-learner who proactively seeks out best practices.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues and design effective solutions.
- Detail-oriented — meticulous in code quality, documentation, and system configuration.
- To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
