The Atlanta Braves are looking for a Senior Data Engineer, Baseball Systems to develop and maintain the data pipelines of the Baseball Operations department, supporting internal analytics applications and decision-making processes for the front office, scouting, and coaching staffs.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a full-time data engineer.
- Established experience with database technologies, architecture and design patterns. Snowflake experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated track record of building and maintaining relational databases and data warehouses.
- Expert proficiency in writing SQL and optimizing queries.
- Highly proficient with programming language for scripting and manipulating data, Python strongly preferred.
- Prior experience with utilizing cloud services, AWS preferred.
- Familiarity with using version control such as git.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain databases and other systems for storing baseball data.
- Develop and maintain processing pipelines to extract and transform data into usable datasets for Baseball Operations customers.
- Build relationships, communicate effectively, and gather feedback from Baseball Operations staff to translate their needs into new platforms and/or improvements within existing systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Other
- Interest in baseball and sports analytics research as a strong plus.
- Ability to learn new technologies, including new coding languages.
- Proven ability and initiative to work independently and handle high volumes of detailed work, multi-task and manage projects on short deadlines.
- General baseball knowledge and interest.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some nights and weekends as dictated by the Major League season.
