Activision is looking to optimize game features, personalize the player experience, and improve analytically driven in-game systems through the development and operationalization of machine learning models.
Requirements
- Prototype-to-production engineering skills in Python, including best practices such as unit testing, source control, proper documentation, library packaging, versioning, testing, containerization, CI/CD, and task scheduling.
- General machine learning expertise, i.e. regression, classification, clustering algorithms, Bayesian methods, bandit algorithms.
- Solid understanding of inferential statistics, e.g. statistical power analysis, significance testing, t-tests, ANOVA.
- Engineering experience in at least one cloud platform such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience with Recommender Systems, Bandit Algorithms, and/or
- Ph.D. with peer-reviewed publications and a proven track record of self-guided research.
Responsibilities
- Building scalable recommendation systems and personalization models to create catered experiences for our Call of Duty playerbase.
- Designing, conducting and analyzing the results of controlled experiments (A/B tests).
- Researching and implementing novel ML approaches for new problems.
- Translating requirements from cross-disciplinary teams in Game Operations, Marketing, Game Studios, and Business Planning into data solutions.
- Synthesizing disparate data, detecting and working around broken data, and investigating every possibility until you have a thorough solution.
- Designing MLOps pipelines to proactively identify and mitigate failures stemming from data drift, infrastructure changes, and model instability.
- Evangelizing ethical ML by being thoughtful about identifying, testing for, and reducing biases in models.
Other
- MS/PhD in Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Operations Research, Economics, or another quantitative field.
- 4 to 8 years’ experience as a Data Scientist.
- Being a tenacious and self-directed problem solver.
- Driving towards visibility, accountability, and communication.
- Being team-oriented and able to build long-lasting and collaborative relationships effectively.
